Blog #1
I had a very good friend in high school. His name was Adam. We both shared many of the same interests and aspirations. He is a very good kid, but seemed to be one of those guys that bad things always happened to. Either it was fated, or he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time quite often. Well, this was nowhere more evident, than with the health of his family. When Adam was 10 years old his father was diagnosed with testicular cancer. It was a very scary time for both Adam and his family. However, his father faught through it and beat the cancer, which has since recieded. Unfortunately, this was not the end of the family's misfortune. In 2002, when Adam was 15 years old, his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. He was also given the news that this cancer had already spread to his mother's lymph nodes, which is merely another phrase for the distasteful word "terminal." To date, however, Adam's mother has fought bravely and against all odds, her cancer has recieded as well. Though this family has been through the darkest of times, they have always managed to pull through and reunite. It is safe to say, that with Adam's family history, he would certainly choose to research cancer in some way or another.
